If funds are depleted prior to the end of that fiscal year (May 1 - April 30) the reduced fee program will be complete for that year. Fee reductions will be distributed on a first come, first-serve basis. The City Forester may adjust species based on location and availability. The department of Parks & Recreation will allocate up to 5000 annually for fee reductions. All replant species request will be honored if possible. If removed from February 1st to July it will be replanted in the fall. If your tree is removed between August 1st and January 31st it will be replanted in the Spring. This ordinance requires anyone wishing to plant or have work done on a City tree to obtain a permit.Īll trees removed by the City of Bloomington will be replanted as space and location permit. Trees are pruned to remove dead, dying or diseased material as well. Trees are routinely pruned to provide required sight distance, stop sign and traffic light clearances as well. Trees are maintained for both vehicular and pedestrian clearance. The Parks and Recreation Department Forestry Division manages all the trees on City property in Bloomington.
